Surprise, Surprise: Islamists Emerge from David Cameron-Backed “Arab Spring”

Western-supported “Arab Spring” darlings in Tunisia and Libya have turned out to be Islamists who seek the imposition of Sharia law, it has emerged.

Election results from Tunisia show that the Islamist Ennahdha party has won a majority of the votes, while the leader of Libya’s National Transitional Council has announced that Sharia law will form the “basic source” of all legislation in a “free Libya.”

Ennahda, which was previously banned, won the elections in Tunisia, a nation credited with starting the wave of “Arab Spring” movements in North Africa, all of which were enthusiastically supported by Western governments.

Many observers warned the West that they had no or little idea with whom they were dealing, and British nationalism was humiliated when a bizarre article in the BNP’s “new-look” Identity magazine identified George Soros and “international banks” as being behind the uprisings.

It will come as no surprise to readers of this website to learn that the leader of Ennahda, Rashid al-Ghannushi, spent most of his years in exile in London as an “asylum seeker,” sponging off the British taxpayer.

According to Tunisian media reports, Al-Ghannushi said that “Sharia is not something that is alien or strange to our societies.

“For example, in Britain we have Islamic finance and Islamic banking, and Islamic family law can be applied for marriage and divorce.”

In Libya, NTC leader Mustafa Abdul-Jalil proclaimed that a future parliament would have an “Islamist tint” and any existing laws contradicting the teachings of Islam would be “nullified.”

Abdul-Jalil said on Sunday evening that he would scrap by decree the progressive Family Law of 1984, introduced by Ghadaffi to halt polygamy.  Sharia law permits Muslims to have four wives. Men are also allowed to divorce their wives by proclamation.

* In Egypt, where the parliamentary election is planned for November, the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood is likely to earn the most votes.

*According to defence expert Francis Tusa, editor of Defence Analysis, British taxpayers have so far paid out at least £1.75 billion for British military intervention in Libya.

  1. Democracy means majority rule. It does not necessarily mean moderation. In an Islamic-majority society the ‘Arab spring’ and Muslim ‘democracy’ cannot lead to anything except what we would regard as extremism. Of course their values are different to ours. Why do we expect what is moderate to us, to be moderate to them? Our values come from a completely different book, a heavenly book. Their values, as John Wesley said, come from hell: just look at the photo. Did not our Lord Jesus Christ warn that they who take the gun shall perish by the gun.

  2. Never forget Islam is an expansionist faith, these new found islamist bastions will be exporting their operatives to a neighbourhood near u soon. Protected of course by our human rights legislation.

  3. It’s all so predictable.
Over the next few years, these newly liberated Arab countries will steadily be taken over by the Islamists.
And any which resist, will be turned into violent lawless hell-holes like Algeria.

  4. Bums up boys, Allah is with you.

  5. Moderate Islam, is that like squaring the circle?

  6. Shouldn’t be much longer before the Libyans are wishing Gadaffi was back,
the way things appear to be shaping up over there. Too late now…….
Better the devil you know, (or knew).
Stand by for an influx of Libyan “refugees” fleeing from democracy!
    ………. & guess where they’ll be heading.

  7. Our new British Democratic Party are against Britain being involved in Syria. It is our policy , Written in stone as the saying goes, that Britain does not involve itself in foreign wars that do not effect our national interest. We are actually the peace party. The liblabcon are the warmongers. Our Prime Minister has been trying to drag our country into the Syrian conflict. First an end to the arms embargo , then the suggestion we could provide medical supplies and vehicles. Then it would be communications and advisors, followed by boots on the ground. He has learnt nothing from the so called arab spring and is still trying to kid us that these people are fighting for Democracy ! As the president of Russia asked, do we really want to arm these people ? Our much depleted army is needed to assist with Operation NEXUS in our overwhelmed capital !
