The party believes firmly in the principles of representative democracy, embracing acceptance of the widest possible participation by its members in the party’s activities.

We assert that our growth and development can therefore best be achieved by a “grassroots” rather than a “top-down” approach, with elected members serving the membership while carrying out their elected role to the best of their ability and through the promotion of local activism on the widest possible scale in all regions of our country.

The party will be run by willing volunteers in the initial stages, with only pre-agreed legitimate expense payments being made where warranted.

Keeping the overhead costs to a minimum will allow more to be spent on front-line campaigning. As the party grows it may be necessary to review the staffing arrangements.

Membership of the British Democratic Party runs from 1st January to the 31st December. People joining after 1st October will be accredited with the following year’s membership.

All memberships categories give voting rights.
