Football Needs More English Players

Football Needs More English Players

Last year England’s football team suffered the indignity of being sent home after the first round. This year no Premier League side is represented in the last eight of the European Champions League the same story in 2014. Why is this, when youth teams all over the country show that we have never had so many young kids including home-grown blacks, actively playing the game?

Despite the dramatic arrival of Harry Kane, the new super hero of English football, it is the dominance of most of the Premiership teams that minimises the number of English youngsters who have the experience to play in internationals for England. This is because Premiership football, particularly in the UK, is now very much an international big business operation which owns nearly 25 English teams – including some in the Championship such as Leeds. The financiers who own the top flight of our national game even appoint foreign managers as well as shelling out over a £billion  in the last three years for foreign quality players, with English born players now being the minority in almost every team.

Look at Manchester City, managed by Manuel Pellegrini. Apart from regular goalkeeper Joe Hart and James Milner, the rest of the team are either European or African players. Arsenal is much the same and Chelsea and even Liverpool and Newcastle are heading that way.  To watch a game you will have to cough up £60 on average, or £97 for a match-day ticket at Arsenal. The financiers want their profit.

What amazes me – and is an example of crowd hysteria – people who are not registered as being insane will shout and scream for ‘our team’ and fight supporters of the opposing team. Yet it is highly unlikely that just one of the team players they want to fight over actually comes from within 50 miles of the ‘local’ team (more like 5,000 miles).  It is a similar phenomenon of the thousands of Brits who shout support at athletics meetings for the distance runner Mo Farah as a British or English .runner He is a great Somali runner, not a British one.

It is surprising that Greg Dyke, the once chairman of the BBC who thought it was ‘too white’, is now speaking more common sense since he became chairman of the Football Association. He is calling for an increase of English players in the Premier League from 35 per cent to “over 40 per cent”. I say we need it to be at least 50 per cent if we are to widen the pool from which our National team can draw more indigenous talent.

According to EU rules we cannot stop any European player whose country is within the EU from coming here to play football professionally. Another reason for us to leave the EU, some might say. But we can do something about the number of Afro-Asian players, most of whom are brought here on the cheap. If they can’t make it on the big time then they drift down the leagues to end up part time with Gateshead or Cambridge. At least it’s a good way to become a permanent, synthetic Brit that can’t be deported.

  1. Oh yes, Greg Dyke, another of the Leftie self flagellants whose remarks about ”hideously white” staff at the BBC earned him establishment brownie points for life. Hence his latest appointment at the FA. Grovelling Greg is surely somebody who believes that English football needs more ”English” players, except that most of them will not be English at all.

  2. football is an aside. the circus that takes us somewhere else rather than reality. It constantly amazes me why kids that are open to our politics still support these non white non English teams . Yesterday Arsenal fielded a team of ten foreigners and one British born player . He was by the way black
I also think it an invidious way to sell the multi cult vision to such young eyes.

  3. The Revolution is still devouring its children. To the DISMAY of the very Patriotic and indeed Nationalist fans of Westham United , the Club has in recent years , become very Political. Constant reminders to beware of ‘ Racism ‘ , whatever that made up word means , and a Gay extravaganda , featuring a Rainbow has been their lot , when ALL THEY WANT TO DO IS GO TO A FOOTBALL MATCH ! Anyway it has all ‘ bitten them on the bum ‘ , so to speak , with the leaking of an e mail where it was advocated that the club get no more players from Africa because of the terrible BEHAVOUR , on and off the pitch , by the many players they have from there ! The LEFT smell blood on this despite ALL that the Clubs Directors have done to Promote the MULTI-CULTURAL , LEFTY REVOLUTION. We sympathise with the vast majority of Westham fans WHO ACTUALLY ARE VERY SYMPATHETIC TO OUR PARTY !
