“Equality Act” Endangers Jobs, Civitas Warns

Contrary to government assurances, new equality rules will have no economic benefit and questionable impact on real inequality, a new report by think tank Civitas has revealed.

Furthermore, the report said, as unemployment continues to grow, new equality regulations threaten further job losses.

“The Equality Act 2010 introduced new duties on employers to protect disadvantaged groups from discrimination in the workplace and combines existing anti-discrimination law into one act,” a Civitas press statement said.

“The Government’s official Impact Assessment of the Equality Act claimed that it would produce net economic benefits of £25-£87 million annually and increase access to jobs.”

The report, titled Assessing the Damage, by Nigel Williams, said that the Government’s assessment “relied on a series of spurious assumptions, and that the more probable outcome is job destruction:

“The claims for the 2010 Equality Act are immense. There are a few initial costs, followed by massive annual gains; social evils may be reduced while contributing to the economy at the same time. With a little scrutiny, however, the balance of benefits over costs vanishes very rapidly.

“The most tenuous argument was to place an arbitrary cash value on an ideological aim,” the report said.

“The government’s Impact Assessment calculated that a more equal society was worth £62 million pounds per year.

“No money is produced or saved. The estimate is just of the feeling of well-being coming from a belief that differences between people have been reduced. The value is ideological, nothing more.

“This puts a thumb on the assessment scale. It makes the Act ‘cost-effective’ not through evidence, but by definition, since the intention of the Act is to reduce inequality,” Civitas said, adding that the report’s author shows that this argument “requires the further assumption that the new equality regulations do, in fact, increase equality. This is far from clear since:

“It is unproven that favouring individual members of a disadvantaged group (as the Equality Act allows), actually benefits the disadvantaged members of that group.

“Instead, advantaged members of a minority group might be in a better position to exploit new opportunities provided by regulation.

“Previously enacted equality regulations have failed to make any visible impact on overall equality metrics.

“While the benefits are illusory or contestable, the costs are very real and likely to be larger than the Equality Act Impact Assessment estimates,” the Civitas report said.

“The annual consequences of this legislation will serve not to pay back the costs, but to add to them. The ideological benefits of the Equalities Act are debatable at best. The financial benefits simply do not exist.”

  1. The nonsense of the liberal establishment knows no bounds…how can favouring certain members of the ethnic minorities over White Britons be equality? It can’t it’s inequality! It’s truly Orwellian double-speak to think that by discriminating against native White Britons they can stop discrimination…….nonsense!
    .
The establishment elites must think the British people are really stupid, they flood the country with immigrant cheap labour because apparently us lazy Brits won’t do certain poorly paid jobs, and apparently there is also a skills shortage and need to import immigrants for those skilled jobs…….but now they tell us immigrants aren’t getting certain jobs and being discriminated against………so tell me why we need cheap labour immigrants again if there’s obviously no need for them…..oh forgot they’re cheap!

  2. All this ‘crap’ is doing is giving one section of society a big stick to thrash the other
( majority ) of society who then become angry and enraged and so friction is caused between the ‘races’ and mixed cultures. The very oppopsite to what was intended.

I have absolutely NOTHING against any individual of any race, but because of the PC idiocy, enforced mixing of opposing cultures, unfair favouritism of minorities etc etc, I now feel angry and resentful of immigrants in general; what ever skin hue or ethnic background. I have been driven to the point where I resent the lot of them,

I went to a Fish n Chip shop yesterday, two out of the three staff were poorly speaking imports. So I will not be returning.

I was in hospital to have an assessment fo a possible eye surgery. The ( asian) conultant doctors ‘english’ meant that I could NOT understand clearly what she was explaining, the nurse was from eastern europe with even less ‘english’ so just how do these ‘professionals’ who hold OUR LIVES in there hands communicate effectively with one another when both are using a language they are NOT proficient in??

Its terrifying, I am contimplating whether to cancell the op.

    • Maybe that is why there are 1 Million fatal errors in the NHS every decade.
40,000 in UK hospitals according to Dept of Health, according to Prof Trev Sheldon, univ of York, it’s 90,000 per year in UK Hospitals.
Not counting fatal errors caused by our 40,000 GPs, if we assume just 1 fatal error per year per GP thats an extra 40,000, add it to the lowest figure the NHS will agree to ( 30-40,000 they say ) that’s 80,000 deaths from medical error per year as a bare minimum (because these are Govt figures)
Which is 800,000 per decade fewer Little Englanders per decade for the EU to deal with.
If you use Prof Sheldon’s and others figures the death toll is 1.8 million fewer Brits per decade as a result of NHS ‘accidents’ then add in 200,000 abortions per year, thats 2 million more per decade and you have the NHS killing between 3 and 4 million Brits every ten years eaither by abortion ( 2 Million per decade ) or accidents between 600,000 and 1.8 million per decade.

Of course I’m not suggesting there is anything sinister going on in the NHS, but it could be argued that whereas Stalin got rid of his unwanted people via a bullet in the back of the head, our lot are being a little bit more scientifically subtle about their agenda.

You can look those figures up, been reported in the media.
Let’s play devils advocate and say they are all accidents,, OK then, with up to 2 million accidents per decade ( plus another 2 million abortions ) you’d expect a mention a PMQ’s but instead we have silence.
I think it’s safe to say the NHS is not about health, it is being used by our Establishment to get rid of a little problem they have, namely we the British people because you can’t ‘accidentally’ kill 2 million people per decade, and then remain largely silent on the issue, it must be by design.

  3. The Equality Act and its aims and objectives are just a load of complete and utter trash – we should have a bonfire, a holocaust even, of all the regulations which talk about, in imprecise and ambiguous terms, the “promotion of equality”. There are too many of them here already.

What Britain and the British need is freedom from immigration and the bilge of Islam.

  4. Whilst I would be quite willing to get a job as I have been asked to do frequently in recent times,I would have to employ someone to transport me both to and from work as I am in a wheelchair, this being,I am quite curious, as I WORKED from the day that I walked out of the school gates until my illness, when I attend these work focussed interviews I never seem to see any of these new people, especially females attending at the same time, this makes me even more curious as they always seem to be laden down with shopping bags, come to think of it the Next sale starts tomorrow.

  5. It should be remembered that Acts of parliament is not a law unless you consent.
When we vote at elections we are simply deciding which political party will run the executive. Consent is an entirely different matter. Consent is categorically an individual action. You are governed by the government of the day entirely because you and you alone consent. The trick is of course that ‘they’ have secured your consent without you realising how and when.

You give your consent every time you engage with the government or with one of its many institutions, such as the Inland Revenue. The next time you fill in your tax return, remember that at the moment you sign it, you are consenting to paying tax. The same applies when you complete your car registration, you are consenting to paying road tax.

The list goes on – whenever you sign your name, you are consenting.

No matter how difficult it may be to understand… TAX IS VOLUNTARY.
    http://www.thebcgroup.org.uk/article/consent-most-important-word-english-language

If the “powers” that be (it should really be those elected to serve), no longer represent you, then stop funding them.
TV licence, Council tax, car tax, income tax, VAT etc
(no one is suggesting you should be allowed anything for free, however if you are going to pay for something you should have a contract and your consent.)
We have a core belief system that most people believe it is the only system, for instance did you know that ACTS of parliament are not actually law, it’s only given the force of law if you CONSENT.
Parliament is operated like a company, the “politician¬s” are the directors of the company and you are the employee of the company. All you are doing in taking part in elections is electing a director of the company.
These directors of Great Britain (plc) borrow money from the banks and taxpayers pay the interest to the banks.
If you are employed by Tesco’s for instance you will have a contract, these are the rules of the company, you are giving your consent and you wouldn’t be expected to follow the rules of another company would you?
Acts of Parliament are only enforceable on the employees of the company Great Britain (plc)
How did you become an employee of the company? Great Britain (plc)

Your birth certificat¬e which you had no part in, your parents unwittingl¬y signed you over to the company, and when you come of age you are given a National Insurance number which is your employee number.
In other words you have never consented, you have never been asked.
This doesn’t mean you don’t want to pay your way, but it does mean that you have to give your consent.
There is common law, and corporate law (Acts of Parliament¬) two completely different things,
of course under common law murder, theft, causing harm or loss to anyone else is unlawful and will be dealt with in common law courts.

    education is the key.

    • Is it practical to live such a way? I claim JSA due to the ‘company’ mismanaging the economy. I guess I would’t be able to do so if I ‘opted out’. Also would I be able to get away with infringing the draconian statutes on firearm ownership by refusing to consent to them?

      • You cannot claim benefits if you opt to no consent, however it will open up a whole new world of posibilities. the real key here is knowledge and numbers of people with that knowledge…

        Did you know;
There is a HUGE DIFFERENCE between LEGAL and LAWFUL?
That there is a Language spoke in the UK by the ‘Legal Society’ called LEGALESE? (English – with different meanings!?)

        Did you know;
        Paying tax is OPTIONAL?
        Getting a License is OPTIONAL?
        Registering a Vehicle is OPTIONAL?
        Paying a Fine is OPTIONAL?
        Attending a Court is OPTIONAL?

Do you know what ACT’s & STATUTES are?…and that they are ALSO OPTIONAL?

  6. An elderly female relative was recently admitted to hospital. My partner and I, when telephoning and/or visiting experienced great difficulty in communicating with the majority non-indigenous staff whose limited grasp of English dictated that we needed to repeat our relative’s name several times; then to hear this elderly lady referred to in the masculine gender. When visiting immediately prior to discharge we inquired of an African nurse to clarify the discharge arrangements. Her response was to giggle inappropriately but make no verbal response. The question was rephrased but produced a similar response. Thus we found it necessary to find (with some difficulty) an English nurse to elicit the information we required. Our letter to the hospital managers received the usual non-committal response.
My partner and I have between us some fifty years in the Nursing profession and the communication skills which I have described would then simply not have been acceptable. Ergo it is obvious that by employing third-world staff standards have been lowered to accommodate this action; to the detriment of patient care.
