A special commission has been set up in Germany to investigate more than 300 current cases of welfare fraud by asylum seekers.
The chairman of the commission in the city of Braunschweig, Joern Memenga, said. The asylum seekers are in the main refugees from Sudan who arrived in the summer of 2015 and the total fraud amounts to several million euros.
The fraud was perpetrated by the refugees registering themselves several times in different locations to receive multiple welfare payments as most of them had three or four identities using different surnames. Each person cheated the authorities out of thousands of euros and in one case the asylum seeker had twelve identities and had received 45,000 euros illegally.
Overworked civil servants had not been able to see through the deception. At the height of the refugee arrivals in 2015 they were registering 2,000 people per day.
The public prosecutor said it was unlikely that any of the cases would end up in court. “By the time their cover is blown, they have mostly moved on already”.
Is it possible asylum seekers in the UK could carry out similar welfare fraud?
If they did, would the government take action and release details to the media?

The United States of America decided to stop People from Iran Iraq , Libya , Sudan Syria and Yemen from entering the Country. It is very sad that this only applies for ninety days , whilst their Government decides how best to protect the People.This is actually THE FIRST DUTY OF GOVERNMENT , a FACT that I am sure is UNKNOWN to Demented , self styled ‘ Commies ‘ and liberal types here. It is also COMMON SENSE and I hope we introduce similar , but much harsher , more wide ranging and indeed permanent measures here.
