MPs Plead Poverty

begging-mpsEstablishment mouthpiece, the BBC, has recently posted a short video report suggesting that Britain’s Parliamentarians have been having a hard time of late making ends meet.

At least one of their number making the amusing claim that many MP are “assessing whether they can continue as MPs” owing to the dire financial straightjacket they now find themselves in.

Furthermore, we are informed, that more stringent financial control over expenses means that Britain may not get the quality of MP it has previously experienced – an outcome that many taxpayers would consider a blessing we very much suspect.

Another bone of contention amongst MPs is the alleged cost of running the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) – the body that was set up in the wake of the MPs expenses scandal and is said, by some “Honourable Members”, to be a waste of money. The preferred solution being it should be scrapped and the job of policing MPs expenses left to, well – err – MPs themselves!

What’s more, they whine, British MPs get (rather than “earn”) around 20% less than their European counterparts – meaning a substantial pay rise is in order.

Your heart can bleed for these poor underpaid, overworked, unappreciated souls here:

  1. They really are out of touch aren’t they? They don’t know how much people despise them? They should be paid a basic salary & bonuses depending on how many peope in their constituency they have helped, or at least tried to help, that’s MHO.
If they need to have a ‘second home in London’, then let the government buy up a block of flats & let each of them have a room at their disposal. That way, we would at least get MPs’ who wished to SERVE rather than be served.

  2. Labour politicians say they want to cut fuel allowances to well off pensioners – these being the same Westminster parasites who get the taxpayers to pay the fuel bills on their second homes. What utter hypocrites.
